What to do? How far to take it?
I was having an adolescent moment. Metaphorically speaking, I had this car where I thought I wanted it. Naked. Mine to do with as I pleased. Suddenly, I thought I might be happier just sitting on the couch eating potato chips and watching Popeye cartoons. Unclothed, things with this lady, were–how can I put this delicately–not what they seemed.
The general beat up, banged up appearance of the chassis aside, there were some serious issues. Rust-through on the forward bit of the starboard frame rail, for instance:

Buckling and delamination on the forward cross member:

More unhappiness with the cross member:
Problems with the location for the lower A arm:

Yet more rust through issues:

Well, I thought, maybe I can get away with just cutting out the cross member, fabbing a new one and calling it a day:

Or, maybe not:
Ohh no! Put on your thinking cap, lace up your boots and pull out your wallet, I told myself, You Got a Long Way to Go!

Looks like a challenging project.
